March 2007 Results

We are beginning to tally our results from the spring. This is a challenging project because, to be accurate, we need all the final results from ALL our students. So far:

These results are from the March 07 class of high math scorers taught by Mr.Dalby. The beginning scores are PSAT scores; none of the students had taken the SAT because they were juniors. The PSAT has easier math content.

The least any one student improved was 60 pts total; the most any one student improved was 320.

This is the list of improvements. 60, 110, 160, 230, 230, 240, 310, 320.

As you can see there is a lot of variety in how much preparation can help any one student.

In our March accelerated class, the students averaged

  • a gain of 42.50 pts on the reading for an average score of 715,

  • a gain of 40 pts on the math for an average score of 712.50,

  • a gain of 105 pts on the writing for an average score of 727.50.

The range of improvement for reading was 40-50 pts., for math 0-70 pts., and for writing 80-120 pts.

Essays usually started around 6/12 and ended in a range of 8-11/12.

One girl in our June accelerated class who started with 700R/650M/540W on a previous SAT got a 770R/720M/700W on the June SAT.
